Principal Duties & Responsibilities A Security Specialist technician is responsible for the installation and servicing of a variety of types of lock and door related hardware, along with implementing high and entry level master key systems. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to work independently with little or no direction, must be a self starter with organizational and planning skills, highly proficient with hand and power tools, and the ability to learn and absorb new information on the go. Education & Experience Has at least received a high school diploma or is a GED graduate. Field Technician: A minimum of 3 years operating a service vehicle on a full time basis. Able to install most types of door related hardware including but not limited to; exit devices, mortise locks, deadbolts, cylindrical locks, electric strikes, door closers, etc. The ability to generate and pin a multi-level master key system. In House Technician (Journeyman): Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. Able to service all makes of door hardware. Able to read and understand master key systems. Must have excellent key blank identification skills and able to master key standard format cylinders along with large and small face interchangeable cores. In House Technician (Apprentice): must have excellent communication and customer service skills. Has the ability to operate general hand tools, drill press, and various small power tools. Physical Requirements Ability to lift at least 70 lbs, work from a ladder, able to perform repetitive movements (wire installation), work a drill motor and other hand and power tools.
